SIGMA KAPPA BLOG

The Kappa Nu chapter of Sigma Kappa has had an amazing spring semester! From participating in Greek Week, to exchanges and Big-Little reveal, to service and initiation, our girls have been busy! As we say goodbye to our seniors and hello to a new semester in the fall, we couldn't be more proud of our accomplishments and more excited for our future times together.

Sigma Kappa is Proud to Announce...
Marquette University 2009 Greek Awards: Our chapter won Chapter of the Year, Freshman of the Year (Lisa Miller), Four Year Dedication Award (Kendra Borchardt), Outstanding Chapter Scholarship Award, and Outstanding Chapter Philanthropy Award!
Goodbye Seniors, We Love You!
From Our President: While we are excited to see our graduates' success, it will be bitter sweet to seem them go, as they are the last of our colony class. These same members cannot imagine their college experience without the love, moral support, and home-away-from home that has come with Sigma Kappa.
Service in Our Community
From Our Philanthropy Chair: Currently some of our members attend the Milwaukee Catholic Home for their weekly happy hour. During this time, our ladies get to socialize with residents on the Alzheimer's and dementia wing while the members enjoy music, stories, food, and drinks. Starting in the Fall 2009, we are thrilled to send some of our girls to Aurora Sinai hospital. This Spring we participated in American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and Marquette's Hunger Clean-Up.
Sharing Sisterhood
From Our Sisterhood Chair: Our girls had a great start to sisterhood this semester! We began with a sisterhood outing to Luci's, a boutique in downtown Milwaukee. We look forward to Arbor Day where we will plant trees with our Sigma Kappa families.
Dance Like No One's Watching
From Our Social Chair: This semester, our chapter teamed up to host an exchange with Sigma Chi Fraternity where members dressed in a western theme. Delta Chi Fraternity recently hosted Kappa Nu at their home for dinner. The theme was "Represent Your Hometown." Sisters got creative dressing in sports jerseys, high school apparel, and a variety of accessories to bring their hometown to Milwaukee. Our formal was on April 4th at the Botanical Gardens and we had a great night of dinner, dancing, and good company!
Family and Alumnae
From Our Vice President of Alumnae Relations: Sigma Kappa hosted its first annual Mother Daughter Luncheon following our 2009 Spring Initiation. Guests enjoyed a lunch buffet, pictures, and an awards ceremony. Everyone enjoyed learning more about our chapter, and it was the perfect opportunity to share our chapter with our newly initiated sisters and their families!
